Activities
Function
of the Network
The Network, its secretariat and staff
will:
-
provide
for the exchange of information, ideas, action alerts, etc. among
members of the network;
-
facilitate
dialogue among network members, governments and other stakeholders
in smart growth;
-
promote
public awareness of smart growth and urban sprawl issues;
-
provide
networking opportunities and public conferences;
-
respond
to, or refer public and media enquiries to the appropriate
organization(s).
-
assist
the membership to develop strategies, campaigns and projects to
promote smart growth;
-
facilitate
the development of member-led projects in support of our mission.
Community Visions
Taking Smart Growth to the Streets
The OSGN is testing a community
program to raise awareness of the urban village model (a more walkable,
diverse community) and to help communities develop an initial vision of
what would make their neighbourhood more like a village.
