Community Visions

Taking Smart Growth to the Streets

Make urban development work for you!

We believe that urban development should lead to stronger communities and more amenities for local residents.  The solution lies in designing an "urban village" -- which we define as "a place that has almost everything you need on a daily basis, and you can walk to get there".

Now, we're not expecting to turn Ontario's sprawl into compact, interconnected villages overnight.  However, we do expect to give people a sense of what their community could look like, and to start them down the path of working with planners and developers to make sure that any future development contributes to their village vision.

We are currently testing a community workshop series that will help community groups assess how well their neighbourhood works as a village.

If you live in the area, please come join us!  Admission is open to all but space is limited, so please reserve your place ASAP by contacting Greg McDonald at streets@greenontario.org or 416.533.1635. ext.4
