Sometimes the solutions are obvious...
...it's putting them into practice that's difficult!

In November 2002, the Conservation Council of Ontario held its first Summit, with over 100 organizations represented.   The summit helped identify a clear role for non-governmental organizations in promoting conservation and environmental solutions.

 Greening Ontario

Following the 2002 Eco Summit the Conservation Council of Ontario synthesized the ideas and recommendations from the summit into a strategy paper on how to revitalize NGO contributions to conservation and a healthy environment

Key recommendations included:

  • identifying clear provincial targets and goals for conservation and a healthy environment

  • identifying "centres of excellence"

  • building collaborative alliances of like-minded organizations

  • developing provincial outreach campaigns to raise awareness of conservation solutions

Ontario's Conservation Summit 2004 is helping turn these recommendations into reality!

We wish to express our thanks to all those who participated in the Eco Summit and completed our background surveys.
